How To Stream Music Wirelessly

In Uncategorized on October 11, 2012 by admin

There are many options for streaming your MP3 collection wirelessly. In this post, I will review one of these options: the Amphony iFinity wireless audio transmitter. I will also give some tips about setting up the transmitter and wireless receivers.

The transmitter connects to pretty much any audio source. The supplied cables can be used to connect the transmitter to a headphone output and also to amplified speaker outputs. Most MP3 players and cell phone have a headphone output. If your source only offers RCA connectors, you can use a Y adapter cable which is widely available from most electronics retailers. When connecting the transmitter via speaker cables, be sure to observe the right polarity of the cable. Otherwise the two channels will be out of phase.

The next step is connecting the receiver. If you are going to drive some passive speakers, you’ll need an audio amplifier since the receiver won’t be able to drive a speaker directly. In this case, connect the receiver output to the audio amplifier input. The audio amplifier output then connects to your speakers. If you have active speakers then you can go ahead and connect the receiver directly to the audio input of your speakers.

Finally, you need to pair the receiver with the transmitter. This step is described fairly well in the user manual. Simply press the pairing button on both the receiver and transmitter. You can actually run up to 4 wireless receivers. Each of these receivers is paired similarly.
